Poster Series 01
Lessons and instructions, this poster series is an exploration of random biblical texts, it’s how I give life to those verses, not with breath of air but with marble sculptures and color. What was my thought process like when creating these pieces? It was freedom. I wasn’t going to be careful or safe. Each piece as you see is what I saw in my mind. So, I invite you to open your mind and heart and be enriched not just by its beauty but by its meaning.
Be Mindful: Inspired by the mind, a beautiful place to be, yet a terrible place to remain. Be Mindful is rather an instruction than warning. Guard you mind, your whole being depends on it. The only way I know to protect the mind is meditation. Through meditation in the word of God can you do that. Joshua 1:8
Beauty in the Cracks: Inspired by the Japanese art ‘kintsugi’. It is a unique practice where broken pottery is highlighted and glued back together with liquid gold, thereby adding value to it. In as much as we try to strive for perfection which is possible, we are flawed. Yes, we are. But our flaws are not something to hide but to display with pride. Our scars are what to exhibit because, they tell our story.
Watch and Pray: Need I say much? 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Wings: This poster is inspired by our victory in Christ Jesus. Yes, we are victorious because He has given us victory on a platter. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Secrets: …makes you wonder, is anything really a secrete? He reveals mysteries from the darkness and brings the deep darkness into light. Job 12:22
Bread: The inspiration behind this piece is the first temptation of Jesus after his fasting period. Here, the devil tries to tempt Jesus into turning stone into bread since he knew he was hungry. Matthew 4:1-11
